T he beaches of the Greater Daytona Beach Area include several amenities designed to increase accessibility. Beach vehicle access is free for guests with disabilities displaying a DMV-issued handicap placard. When conditions allow, guests with the appropriate placard may park east of the established traffic lane. This is closer to the water on the hard-packed sand. Additional handicapped parking spaces are available at lifeguard stations and various off-beach parking lots. Complimentary beach wheelchairs are available for guests requiring additional assistance. They can be obtained on a first-come, first- served basis at these lifeguard stations: • Flagler Avenue, New Smyrna Beach • Ponce Inlet Control Tower • Dunlawton Blvd., Daytona Beach Shores • Beach Headquarters, Daytona Beach • Ormond Beach Station, Cardinal Drive Having earned its claim to fame with wide, hard-packed sands, Daytona Beach allows vehicles to cruise along more than 11 miles of expansive oceanfront. Once known for automobile speed trials and stock car races, today’s beach experience allows visitors to soak up the sun and fun at a much more leisurely pace. Not only does vehicle access allow for scenic drives, but the convenience of beach parking ensures more time for fun. For those who prefer a vehicle-free beach day, more than 3,500 off-beach parking spaces are available, many nestled in beachfront parks with restrooms, picnic tables, and other amenities. Accessing the “World’s Most Famous Beach” is easy, convenient, and stress free. While taking in the beauty of the sand and surf, there is no reason to go hungry. Food trucks located throughout the beach serve up a variety of treats, and ice cream trucks have been creating cherished family memories for generations — the perfect complement to a sunny beach day. The iconic Daytona Beach Pier and Boardwalk are entertainment central, featuring arcade games, shops, Joe’s Crab Shack restaurant on the pier, live music at the bandshell, and the Ocean Walk Shoppes. Morning, noon, and night, the sounds of fun and games fill the air. Several beachfront restaurants welcome beachgoers, including the world-famous Ocean Deck Restaurant & Beach Bar in Daytona Beach. This iconic spot was named Best Beach Bar by USA Today in 2025. Visitors looking to burn off some energy find that Daytona Beach provides the ultimate playground. Walking, running, biking, and yoga are just the beginning. For the more adventurous, surfing, paddleboarding, and boogie boarding await. Gear rentals are available from vendors like VC Beach Rentals, and Vast Oceans Surf and SUP School offer lessons for aspiring surfers and paddleboarders.
